In partnership with Caltrans, San Luis Obispo County Parks, the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo, and the Cayucos Sanitary District, we are excited to launch a new 10-year restoration project along Toro Creek, located between Morro Bay and Cayucos. This project will focus on invasive species removal, targeting cape ivy (Delairea odorata) and other non-native plants that threaten native habitat. To help manage invasive weed pressure, we’ll be welcoming a hard-working herd of goats to the site for targeted grazing. Over 2,000 native plants will also be installed to enhance biodiversity, improve habitat quality, and support long-term ecosystem resilience.

The site will be managed and monitored by the USLTRCD through 2036 as part of mitigation requirements associated with the Piedras Blancas Highway 1 Realignment project. Our team is thrilled to begin work on this beautiful and ecologically important site.
